Now the time has come!

I am actively looking for experts to interview for my doctoral thesis with the title:
Effects of the integration of knowledge management in DIN ISO EN 9001:2015 on technical project teams regarding their working culture.

What is it about?

Content:

With the revision of DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 in 2015, knowledge management (under 7.1.6) was included in the standard. Certified companies are now required to determine the knowledge needed to maintain compliant business operations. This knowledge must be maintained and made available. Now there is a lot of knowledge in a company, but I would like to limit myself here to the area of knowledge that is created in and through technical projects. I would like to find out whether something has changed for the project team in the consumption as well as in the archiving of knowledge.

With this expert interview, I am interested in their opinion and experience as practitioners. I like to stimulate this with my own experience and view in order to achieve added value for my thesis and thus for the research in this subject area with this interview.

Interview guardrails:

I have created a PDF to give you an overview of the content and scope of the interview.

You can find it here:

I wish you all a happy, prosperous and, above all, healthy new year.

„Example is leadership“
Albert Schweitzer

Due working on my paper i came to an interesting aspect about a relation of the working mode and employee generation towards the ranking on the company. Quick thought,… quick done. I used my running survey to add this kind of question to until now more then 200 participants. I asked them to rank there company in different terms. First; Corporate Culture, Leadership behaviour of direct superiors, Leadership behaviour of senior management, Transparent company vision and at least the Promotion of young talent/ programmes. They should rank from 1= very good; up to 5 =Insufficient.

What i was aspect was to detect some clear differences in, for example, the working method and the Leadership behaviour. Because, in an agile work mode,… there is no „typical Leader“,… normally.

Or, another example. It could be possible that employees with much experience (out of Generation BabyBoomer) have an completely different view to the Corporate Culture,… or Company Vision as employees out of the youngest worker generation, the Generation Z.

Below you find a Generation Classification what i use.

(Link to Simon Schnetzer: https://simon-schnetzer.com/generation-xyz/ And, by the way, i like the work from Simon very much.
It is worth visiting his page. )

The survey is not quite over yet,… but i couldn´t wait. So i took the data from the survey web page and analysed them with SPSS. After the sorting i still had 179 results to work with. Therefore i splitted them in two parts.

The first one is to see the ranking of the the different terms, sorted after the CURRENT work method from the survey participants. So means, a person who work right now agile for example rate the corporate culture as,… xxx

And as second, i sorted the results after the Generation of the survey participants. Could be that the „older“ employees understood the company vision in a complete different way as the „newbies“ at work. This you`ll find on the right side.

But now,… coming to the result:

The final results surprises me. They show that it make nearly no difference if you sort in direction of work method or Generation,… the result is more or less the same. Even the average between them have only a difference of 0,07,… so nothing,… we can assume this is the same.

I can well imagine that many of the participants were undecided about the rating and therefore chose the „golden middle“ In addition, the results become more and more „blurred“ on average the more participants there are. Nevertheless, let’s look at it in a little more detail.

If we take a closer look at the distribution on the left, it becomes clear that everything from Classic to Hybrid to Agile is rated somewhat „better“. Especially in Corporate Culture, Company Vision and Talent Management…. here the agile mid set has worked well I was surprised by the intermediate peak in Leadership in the Hybrid method. In both cases, i.e. direct and senior manager, the value deteriorates on the way from Classic to Hybrid. Since the hybrid method is usually an undefined composition of classic and agile, I have the following assumption: „Hybrid“ is a good choice due to a hasty desire to establish agility in the company, but the framework must also be defined sensibly here. If this does not happen, the expectations and the implementation drift further and further apart. This is a critical point, especially in the area of leadership. The abrupt increase in the area of leadership could be the cause of this.

Let’s take a look at the right side. From BabyBoomer to Generation Z, we cover 54 years. This is further stretched by the overall rapid technological and digital development in the 90s and 00s. As a result, both extremes are moving a little further away from each other. Unfortunately, the differences here are so small that it is simply not possible to make a clear statement or trend.

After taking a closer look at the distribution of the methods by generation, I can explain the small 0.07 point gap. The snake bites its own tail. The distribution across the age to the methodologies coincides to a large extent. Therefore, the overall results are almost identical.

But I also have „Aha“ effects here. First of all, Classic is not dead yet. As in Generation Y, 25% of the young Generation Z still works with Classic methods. And further, Hybrid is becoming stronger again and is taking the power of Agile which is becoming less with Generation Z. I think we will hear a lot more about „hybrid“

I think it’s great that hybrid is gaining power in Generation Z. But, now it is even more important not to let the „slump“ in the area of leadership in the hybrid method (which we have seen before in the left part) become bigger. „Hybrid“ is not the „God-given“ method. Here, too, development work must be managed.

Have a nice day.

Many greetings,
Christian

As part of my survey on the topic „What effect does agile working have on health, motivation and performance?“ on the Survey Circle platform, I announced that I would donate 50 cents to the „Bärenherz Stiftung“ for every participant in my survey.

Why „Bärenherz Stifung“ and what is it anyway? The „Bärenherz Stifung“ is a foundation which operates facilities in which children with incurable diseases are given protection, security and safety. Also for their families. Currently there is a children’s hospice in Wiesbaden, Markkleeberg near Leipzig and a children’s home in Hünstetten-Görsroth.

Have a look at their homepage: www.baerenherz.de

I personally think their idea and work is great. Therefore, I have decided to donate the money you earned through your participation in the survey to this foundation.

Survey Circle ends the free function after 100 completed surveys. And you got that full. Therefore 50€ go to the foundation. Thank you very much.

I’m showing you the transfer here not because I’m such an awesome guy, but because I want to fulfil the announced responsibility to donate money for every survey. This is my code of honour, so to speak, which I would like to prove to you here.

Thank you again for taking part in my survey, also check out the website at the Bärenherz Foundation and do well.

Many greetings; Christian

„One Good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain“
Bob Marley

Music can create different moods. For example, I like to have silence. But in some situations I need music. To relax,… to celebrate,… or to learn. Now it is counterproductive to want to learn with „celebration music“…. the mind keeps wandering. It therefore has to be something „non-committal“…. not boring but not exciting either…. my ProTip: LoFi

LoFi stands for Low Fidelity and is the opposite of HiFi,… i.e. high fidelity. LoFi is a bit scratchy,… like an LP,… with noises,… Noise,… somehow an art of its own. And somehow perfect for learning,… or really also to sleep.

I present you here the two „LoFi- Sources“ i regularly use.

Tipp #1: LoFi Stream on YouTube

I like the „Lofi Girl“ Stream on YouTube very much. No Add´s and constant cool, fresh music who help me to concentrate. Here is the Link

Source: www.youtube.com

Tipp #2: Chill LoFi Study Beats on Spotify

Spotify is also a really good source for loFi music. There are countless playlists for lo-fi music here, and I’ve put one of my favourites in here.

„If you don’t ask, you don’t get“
Stevie Wonder

Of course, it also annoys me when I keep getting emails begging me to take part in a survey. Or… it has annoyed me. For about three weeks now, I’ve also been trying my luck with a survey. It should be fresh, modern and young. Quick to answer and nevertheless in-depth.

No sooner said than done… and the battle for participants was on.

In the first few weeks,… nothing,… shared on Xing; friends and acquaintances involved, asked to share links,… only slowly and in dribs and drabs did the responses come. Too slowly,… taking too long,… I need a booster!

Well, then two sites came to my attention that I would like to share with you here. And for two reasons. Either you also want to do a survey…. or you like doing surveys and want to help the poor pigs

FIRST PAGE:

The first page I would like to share with you is the one from SurveyCircle: SurveyCircle | Umfrageteilnehmer finden, Forschung unterstützen

Really cleverly done. The idea is a give and take. You help others and your survey moves up in the ranking and the „reward“ for participation increases, which makes it more attractive for participants. Really a cool concept, easy to understand, well explained and honest.

There is one thing I particularly like here. You get ready-made pictures sent to you by email which you can then use for social media platforms such as Xing, LinkedIn and Facebook. It really makes a difference and helps to attract participants. Here you can see an example:

I only have one „negative“ thing. There are few surveys in English,… I’m not sure yet how active the service is outside of Germany…. but it seems that most participants have little „desire“ for English surveys. But we will see and hopefully I am wrong

Link to my SurveyCircle:

https://www.surveycircle.com/de/surveys/?sr=r1#2456d58878ef

SECOND PAGE:

Secondly, I would like to share the following page with you: Find Survey Participants Today | SurveySwap

Also a cleverly designed system. The system behind it is a little different. Here, active participation in other surveys does not improve the ranking, but earns points that other participants consume again when participating in their own survey. Also a very interesting system. There is also the possibility to buy these points. This makes it possible to buy participant points immediately for a previously defined number. My hope here is that the survey will generate returns more quickly. We will see.

Link to my SurveySwap:

https://surveyswap.io/surveys/e3c913f5-8ac3-4623-b84a-9a2a0a398a1e/take-a-survey

Last but not least, I am not a survey professional. But maybe the links will help you a bit. Feel free to leave me a comment. Or, write me if you have any questions. I try to help you when I can. We can also share our experience.

Many greetings, Christian
